Hi there! If you’re receiving a message from BlackRock’s Big Problem directly for the first time, it’s because you took action to send a message to BlackRock using one of our digital action tools in 2021. We usually send emails once a month or less with updates about the BlackRock’s Big Problem campaign. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Today marks 25 days till COP26, an upcoming global climate summit many are calling the most important in our lifetimes. Despite the greenwashing, BlackRock is still the world’s largest investor in fossil fuels and has yet to commit to nixing investments in oil, gas and coal companies. But together, we can change that. Check out our digital action toolkit with a plethora of ways anyone can help pressure BlackRock online.

Over these next 25 days between now and COP26, we have an important window to push and move BlackRock to limit the harm they continue to cause by investing in the climate crisis. That’s why folks are taking action at BlackRock offices far and wide right now.

In addition to in-person events, folks are taking digital action to hold BlackRock accountable. Here are some easy steps you can take to pressure BlackRock online during this critical campaign period.

1.  Tweet at BlackRock to tell it to stop investing in fossil fuels and companies that drive deforestation. This action takes less than five minutes and is great for Twitter users. Tweeting about BlackRock’s climate failings helps us add to the ecosystem of voices online that are calling for the firm to address its climate problem. Help fight the greenwash!

2. Check out our Digital Action Toolkit for other digital action ideas.

3. RSVP to “BlackRock, Vanguard, and climate: How asset managers drive the climate crisis and violate indigenous rights”. Join this webinar to learn more about what an asset manager is, the role the largest asset managers play in funding the climate crisis, and how you can get involved to help hold them accountable. We’ll hear from folks directly impacted by BlackRock’s continued climate failings as well as activists and organizers at organizations that are part of the BlackRock’s Big Problem network.

As October progresses, pressure will ramp up. On Friday, October 29th, climate demonstrations at financial corporations of all types will be happening all across the world. For more information and to find an event on the 29th happening near you, visit the Fossil Free Future website and event map. More to come from us on the 29th as well.

Together, we have the power to strategically apply pressure to these companies that are fueling climate destruction, and in this critical moment, it’s more important than ever to keep going. ✊

In solidarity,
